Glitches at Purecombat Weigh-Ins

VISALIA, Calif., Feb. 28 -- Fans came out to "The Cellar Door" in downtown Visalia on Thursday to take in the Purecombat weigh-ins and also to meet the Tapout crew. There were a few glitches, however, and everything did not go totally as planned.
Javier Alanis was a no show for his bout against Daniel Pinedo (Pictures).
Purecombat's Matt McPherson said he called Alanis on Thursday, and the fighter's brother had said Alanis was home and in the shower.
"So I figured he was not making it since he lives in Riverside," McPherson said.
Indeed, the fight is off.
Also, someone forgot to tell Nelson Ocampo that his match with Brandon Miller (Pictures) was supposed to be at 140 pounds. He weighed in at 146.75, and the commission pulled the plug on the fight.
A few other fighters were a bit heavy as well and will now be a little lighter in their wallets. California State Athletic Commission representative Frank Munoz said anyone over more than a pound was going to be fined 20 percent of their purse.
