UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva took part in a belt-promotion ceremony at Team Nogueira in Rio de Janiero on Jan. 27.
Along with the sport’s pound-for-pound No. 1 fighter, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Erick Silva, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Mario Sperry and others took part in the festivities. Also of note, longtime Sherdog.com contributor and Portal do Vale Tudo founder Gleidson Venga received his Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt following years of hard work.
“It’s such an honor to get my black belt after so many years of hard training; even moreso coming from the hands of fighters that I consider to be idols,” said Venga.
