Josh Hayes vs. Tony Asam

Jan 22, 2004
World Extreme Cagefighting returned to The Palace Indian Gaming Center in Lemoore, California for the ninth installment of promoters Scott Adams' and Reed Harris' emerging event. With a few big name guys and a packed stable of home grown talent, the WEC has started to make a push towards the top of the pack when it comes to regional events. In a show filled with 15 MMA bouts and one Muay Thai match, the event did drag on for what seemed like forever-well past 1 am-but a handful of spectacular fights made the lengthy show well worth it. The event was taped for future broadcast on HDTV and I would suggest for those who can to check it out. Josh Hayes took just over two minutes to decide the outcome of his match with Tony Asam as he was able to mount his opponent and force the referee stoppage at 2:05 of the first round.
