In what had to be fight of the night, Olaf Alfonso scratched out a split decision win over last minute replacement John Polekowski in a fight for the ages. Alfonso has acquired quite a cult following after two strong performances in past WEC showings. With his crazy ring demeanor and ruthless aggression, Olaf began like he always does, throwing for the fences as he sprinted across the ring and blasted Polekowski with a flying knee to start the fight.
Both fighters then proceeded to pound each other with Polekowski dropping Olaf on two occasions only to have him come right back at him like nothing had happened. Polekowski was on the receiving end as well as Olaf chased him around the ring, throwing everything but the kitchen sink his way. In a fight that could have gone either way, Alfonso got the nod but the real winners were the fans left with their jaws gaping as they stood and applauded at what they had just witnessed.
