First up was Royden Demotta from BJ Penn’s team in Hilo against Vance Pu (Team Koali, Maui). There wasn’t a lot to this one. Demotta outpowered Pu for the takedown, shifted for position, and proceeded to pound him until his corner threw in the towel at just 3:26 in the first round. Demotta climbed the cage in elation after his victory, which is pretty much the only shot I got of either fighter from my lovely vantage point.
