Jonathan Wiezorek vs. Wade Shipp

Apr 3, 2004
In what was an intriguing matchup from its inception, both men had to fight for their respective careers, seeing as though this was both of their UFC debuts. Jonathan Wiezorek entered the contest undefeated, submitting every man he's faced while Wade Shipp had only lost once in his career. Wiezorek busted out of the gates looking to end things ala Weir/Jackson as he charged across the Octagon, but Shipp met him head on let the knees fly. Wiezorek ate knee after knee, punch after punch for three minutes, not being able to do anything. He tried in vain to sweep Shipp, but Wade had no part of it. Eventually Shipp ran into an iceberg and sank. Wiezorek weathered the entire storm and eventually brought an exhausted Shipp to the mat and seized his back. Wiezorek rained down feeble punches -dozens of them- until the ref had no choice to halt the action. It wasn't like Shipp was being blasted, it's just that he wasn't defending himself. The official stoppage came at 4:39 of the first round.
