The pay-per-view portion of the card got underway with a fight most pundits felt was a big mismatch. Rising light heavyweight star Rich Franklin, on the fast track to MMA stardom, faced off with a very talented but young and outgunned Edwin Dewees. Franklin got taken down in the opening moments but that was all the offense Dewees could muster. Franklin put it into high gear as he launched knee after knee on his way to a crushing TKO at 3:35 of the first round.
