The next bout of the night was Joseph “Diesel” Riggs against Kendall Groves of Cobra Kai Jiu-Jitsu, Maui. This one was over fast, with Diesel controlling the takedown and raining down some HEAVY pain on Groves. Several nasty, powerful forearm/elbow shots caught Groves square in the face with his head firmly on the mat, squishing his cranium to the canvas like a melon. The ref stopped it at 3:09 in the first round to end this awful punishment. It was a very noble effort by Groves, but he was just outmatched tonight. Rumor has it that certain higher-ups from the UFC have been impressed with Riggs as of late (as well they should be), and he will be fighting soon in the big show. Great job by this great athlete.
