Hairstyles aside, let's move on to the big fights of the night. The first fight on the main card featured David "the Chinaman" Yeung of HMC Kickboxing against Justin Mercado of Grappling Unlimited. This one was expected to be high octane all the way, with Mercado having a straight ahead, grappling style, and Yeung being a very exciting counter puncher. We didn't get to see much in the way of standup action, though, as Mercado secured the takedown quickly, and got the win by way of submission to a rear naked choke at just 51 seconds of the first round. It was a disappointing loss for the Chinaman, who is one of the nicest and most respectful individuals in our sport today. He will continue training hard, though, and be on the comeback trail after this defeat, possibly at the next event in February.
