The next bout put Mike Aina (who we mentioned moved on to replace Kolo Koka due to the split decision in Aina’s fight) against Roger Huerta. This one was mostly standup, with Huerta showing his brilliant lead-leg round kicks, often landing them to Aina’s head and body. Huerta got a takedown or two during the fight, but both fighters were primarily standup guys, and everything came back to the feet before long.
Aina never quit, despite taking some heavy shots and Huerta was ultimately unable to finish him. The fight ended in a unanimous decision for Huerta, and didn’t bode well for the finals for Roger, since he was in two brutal wars that went the distance, while Schulz got by relatively quickly in the second round.
