Joe Doerksen vs Riki Fukuda

Apr 19, 2004
The following match pitted Joe Doerksen (Team Extreme, Canada) against Riki Fukuda (Team Purebred; sensing a theme?). This was definitely the most high octane fight of the night, with both guys banging the hell out each other on the feet, and going for submission after submission on the ground. Doerksen clearly had the advantage in all domains, pounding Fukuda on the feet and controlling position on the ground most of the time. Riki impressed everyone with his heart, though, and his stamina, and refused to give an inch, which was particularly amazing since this was his debut match. He looked like a seasoned pro, and against the likes of Doerksen that isn’t easy. He took a beating, though, which led to a judges’ unanimous decision for Doerksen. Doerksen elevated his record to 26-6 tonight, and made comments after the match about wanting to find his way into the UFC. Dana White was not spotted as being in attendance tonight (though he usually is), but if you haven’t given this guy consideration, please do. He’s the real deal, and his fundamental skills are amazing.
