OAKLAND, Calif., Jan. 18 — Usually weigh-ins come and go without a hitch, but not Thursday’s for the opener of the 2007 International Fight League season.

The California State Athletic Commission would not allow Reno Lion Vernon White to fight San Jose Razorclaws light heavyweight Raphael Davis (Pictures) because of a large disparity in their ring experience.

Talking with the veteran “Tiger” White earlier today, there seemed some hope that he would be allowed to fight. However, CSAC executive officer Armando Garcia made the call to cancel the IFL league contest.

Also Southern California Condor Rodrigo Ruas is off the card because of an apparent eye injury that will require surgery. Brad Blackburn (Pictures), Ruas’s opponent, was on location to make weight so he could collect his show fee, which the Seattle Tiger Shark did without problem.

Main event fighter Jeremy Horn (Pictures) stepped on the scales at 188.5 pounds, and was unable to make the middleweight limit of 186. His opponent, Hawaiian Falaniko Vitale (Pictures), opted to take a higher payday and fight Horn Friday night at the ORACLE Arena.
