LONDON, June 30 The weigh-in for Cage Rage 17 went smoother than usual, with virtually no controversy and no last minute changes to the already altered fight card.
The atmosphere was convivial and most fighters displayed good sportsmanship after their face-to-face square off, the only sign of tension being between
Ian Freeman (Pictures) and
Melvin Manhoef (Pictures).
All fighters eventually made weight, with the notable exception of
Rob Broughton, who failed to show as he was "stuck in traffic."
It is worthwhile noting that this was the first Cage Rage press conference attended by media sources outside of the usual mixed martial arts circles, with international news agency Reuters sending representatives along.
Rumors for the next Cage Rage card have already began to circulate, with names such as
Trevor Prangley (Pictures),
Dan Severn (Pictures), Giant Silva and
Alex Reid (Pictures) already being featured.
