EVERETT, Wash., May 31 -- A sellout crowd of 7,200 is expected for the International Fight League's penultimate regular season event Saturday night at the Everett Event Center.
All 24 competitors made weight despite the fact that the Washington Athletic Commission informed the fighters just moments before they were set to tip the scales that the normal one-pound allowance would not be permitted.
The Northwest has been kind to the IFL with a pair of Portland shows in 2006, along with Saturday's event just north of Seattle selling well and generating a buzz that has not surrounded some of the league's other events.
In other IFL news, league commissioner Kurt Otto informed Sherdog.com that New York Pitbulls head coach
Renzo Gracie (Pictures) recently signed UFC veteran
Marcio Cruz (Pictures), better known as Pe De Pano, to fight for him at heavyweight.
