Beatdown: Menjivar, Richman

Feb 11, 2013

TJ De Santis and Jeff Sherwood were back for another three hour edition of “Beatdown.” Joining them was UFC bantamweight Ivan Menjivar and Bellator featherweight semi-finalist Mike Richman.

Ivan Menjivar has spent his mixed martial arts career competing at multiple weight divisions. “The Pride of El Salvador” joined TJ and Jeff to talk about his UFC 157 rematch with Urijah Faber. This time at 135 pounds, Menjivar talks about how he has changed since their 2006 meeting and if he feels the first clash helped him at all in preparing for the rematch. Ivan also shares his thoughts on weight classes in MMA and why he feels the sport needs to seriously consider same day weigh-ins.

Mike Richman is celebrating another knockout win inside the Bellator cage. “The Marine” chats about his victory over fellow Minnesotan Mitch Jackson last Thursday night in Duluth, Georgia. Richman also breaks down his stand up fighting technique, why he has been successful in his MMA campaign, and how he feels he will match up against Alexandre Bezerra in the semi-finals of this seasons featherweight tournament.

Along with these interviews TJ and Jeff take listener calls, emails, and tweets. The guys also ponder if the UFC should strip Dominick Cruz of his bantamweight title in today’s radio poll.
