Beatdown: Thomson, Wineland

By Jeff Sherwood and TJ De Santis Jan 17, 2014

TJ De Santis and Jeff Sherwood returned to the Sherdog Radio Network Friday for another edition of “Beatdown.” On this edition of the show TJ and Jeff were joined by UFC of Fox participants Josh Thomson and Eddie Wineland.

Former Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson finds himself atop of Saturday night’s UFC on Fox 10 card. Standing across the octagon from him will be former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson. “The Punk” joined the program to discuss the main event tilt, how he has dealt with Anthony Pettis being forced out of their December title fight, and if he feels Henderson is a tougher match up than the current champion. The American Kickboxing Academy product also discusses his teammate Luke Rockhold’s performance Wednesday night against Costas Philippou.

Former WEC bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland is looking to get back on the winning track Saturday night when he faces Yves Jabouin. The Indiana native is coming off of a disappointing loss to UFC interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao. Wineland chats about what he learned from the TKO loss, what he thinks about his opponent, and how he continues to manage his daytime job as a fire fighter while continuing to be one of the world’s premiere bantamweights.

De Santis and Sherwood continue to take listener predictions for 2014. They also discuss tomorrow night’s World Series of Fighting 8 card. The guys also take listener calls, emails, and tweets.
