Can Phil Baroni (Pictures) do it again? He'll need to repeat his winning
performance over Japanese fighter Ikuhisa Minowa (Pictures) on Sunday in Tokyo to
advance in the first-ever PRIDE Bushido Welterweight Grand Prix.
Baroni
joins seven 185-pound fighters in what is expected to be a very
competitive tournament.
In this exclusive video interview with Sherdog.com Editor Josh Gross,
Baroni discusses his recovery from a series of stinging defeats that
had the New York native second-guessing his place in the sport. Since
moving to PRIDE earlier this year, Baroni has won two in a row,
including a shocking victory over Ryo Chonan (Pictures), who ranked amongst the
best in the world at his weight at the time.
On the topics of Minowa, the rise from the ashes and other fighters in
the tournament, the oft-brash Baroni is surprisingly restrained on the
eve of Sunday's tournament, where he'll need to win twice in one night
to advance to New Years Eve's finals.
