Recently retired mixed martial arts legend Ken Shamrock (Pictures) has signed with the International Fight League to coach the organization's eleventh squad, the Northern California Lions, it was announced at a Thursday press conference.

A veteran of the UFC and mixed martial arts since it first sprang on the North American scene in 1993, Shamrock hung up his gloves following a third loss to Tito Ortiz (Pictures) in October.

The IFL on Thursday also officially introduced England's Ian Freeman (Pictures) as the head of the aptly named British Bulldogs beginning in 2008. Shamrock's team will make the IFL rotation starting in 2007.
