Following Loss, Thomson Eyes January Return

Josh Thomson had not fought in 15 months because of multiple injuries, but that did not stop him from laying his Strikeforce lightweight strap on the line in a rematch against Gilbert Melendez.

“The Punk” lost a hard-fought unanimous decision, but refused to make any excuses after the bout. He told Sherdog.com that he felt Melendez had a better game plan this time around, and commended him on his impeccable timing in reclaiming the belt Thomson took from him in 2008.

Thomson also stated he believes the Strikeforce lightweight roster matches up well against any other promotions, including the UFC and Dream.
