Anthony Pettis Thinks the PFL Format ‘Is the Hardest Format of Combat Sports’

Anthony Pettis' path in Professional Fighters League has been unfruitful so far, but “Showtime” aims to fix that very soon. Former Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Extreme Cagefighting lightweight titleholder Pettis (24-12, 0-2 PFL) dropped back-to-back decisions in the 2021 PFL season against Clay Collard and eventual champion Raush Manfio. Pettis believes he underestimated the toughness of the PFL’s peculiar format, which forces contestants to compete two times in the span of eight weeks to secure a place in the playoffs and attempt to take home the $1 million award. This year, Pettis foresees that he won’t meet the same difficulty after making some adjustments in the offseason.
