Barnett: 'Promoters Can Come to Me'
Jul 8, 2010
Still regularly recognized as one of the world's top heavyweights, Josh Barnett continues to elude that division's upper echelon of talent.
The 32-year-old former UFC titleholder faces unranked Geronimo dos Santos at Impact Fighting Championships "The Uprising" on July 10 in Brisbane, Australia.
Barnett, who had been scheduled to meet recently defeated Fedor Emelianenko at Affliction "Trliogy" in August 2009, was denied licensure by the California State Athletic Commission after testing positive for steroids in a pre-fight screening (Barnett also tested positive for steroids following UFC 36 in 2002). With a year nearly elapsed, Barnett will soon be able to re-apply for a license in California.
In this Sherdog.com video exclusive shot on June 15, Barnett discusses Dos Santos, his involvement in the women's MMA movement, his burgeoning pro wrestling career and how he feels he fits back into the heavyweight picture with promoters.
