Manhoef Working to Close Ground Gap

Jan 29, 2010

Melvin Manhoef has consistently made it known he did not enjoy working on the ground game, but the notable Dutch striker was singing a different tune just days before he is set to take on middleweight contender Robbie Lawler at Strikeforce: Miami.

Manhoef is known for his exciting and explosive striking skills, but has found himself on the losing end of a fight four times over the past five years and they were all by submission.

Vowing to patch the hole that has kept him from reaching the upper echelon of the middleweight division, Manhoef journeyed to Florida’s American Top Team and credits the fighters and coaches there with advancing his ground game over the past two months. The affable Dutchman also touched on his expectations for his bout with Lawler and predicted a good fight for the fans.
