Gray Maynard is set to take on Kenny Florian at UFC 118 in Boston, Mass., Saturday night and the undefeated lightweight sat down with Sherdog.com’s Greg Savage at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas to discuss the bout.
In what may be a title eliminator, Maynard will look to keep his record clean and earn a shot at the belt he has coveted since transitioning to mixed martial arts. Should he win, he expects to face the winner of the rematch between the champion Frankie Edgar and MMA legend B.J. Penn.
Maynard talks about his expectations for the Florian match as well as his intense desire to compete and he boldly states that, in his mind, he is the best lightweight in the world.
