Eric Stinton Joins Press Row

Every Wednesday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the Sherdog.com blog. This week, Breen is joined by Sherdog.com writer and columnist Eric Stinton.

After B.J. Penn's removal from his UFC 199 bout with Cole Miller due to his IV use in conflict with the UFC's code under USADA, Breen and Stinton discuss Penn's previous clams that IV use was for “wimps,” his claims of ignorance and how it comports with some of Penn's infamous excuses in the past, from an allegedly separated rib in the Matt Hughes rematch to his Greasegate controversy with Georges St. Pierre. The two also discuss Penn as a sports hero in Hawaii, a state which once had a wildly successful local MMA scene but has seen it squelched by government regulation and taxation and how those conditions led to the UFC never coming to the state.

Breen and Stinton also compare and contrast Penn with the next generation of Hawaiian talent and forecast some the state's best prospects, from potential UFC title contenders Max Holloway and Louis Smolka to undefeated up-and-comers like Boston Salmon and One Championship titleholder Angela Lee.
