John Pollock Joins Press Row

Every Wednesday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the Sherdog.com blog. This week, Breen is joined by The Fight Network's John Pollock.

Last Friday's Bellator 122 card marked the first event under new Bellator boss Scott Coker. With Coker now in control of the company, Breen and Pollock discuss the significance of Bellator's next event on Sept. 5, competing head-to-head with the UFC's “Mousasi vs. Jacare” Fight Night card in Connecticut and on cable television. The two break down why Bellator 123 has such boom-bust potential, which promotion will win the ratings war and how the cancelation of UFC 176 may prove critical for the UFC's card in Connecticut.

Breen and Pollock also discuss Spike's decision to not renew pro-wrestling outfit TNA's “Impact” program, what it means for Bellator and whether or not Bobby Lashley is “over” with the pro-wrestling crowd and reminisce on their favorite instances of head-to-head MMA cards, including the UFC's famous counter-programming of Affliction's pay-per-view debut and the fateful night in November 2011 that gave us both Dan Henderson-Mauricio Rua and Michael Chandler-Eddie Alvarez.

Grab your credential and get a seat in “Press Row.”
