By Natalie Zamudio May 22, 2019
Texas native Ricky "El Gallero" Palacios is slipping on the Combate Americas gloves once again, this time to face Cooper Gibson for the June 21 card in Hidalgo, Texas. Now filled out with nine bouts, the Hidalgo debut for Combate Americas is ready to roll into the State Farm Arena.

Occupying the co-main event slot, Palacios (11-1) will challenge the 9-2 Gibson in a featherweight matchup that will see "El Gallero" push for his ninth consecutive mixed martial arts win. His last victory came November 24 via first-round TKO against Walel Watson in the short-lived Golden Boy MMA endeavor.

Gibson, 29, has proved victorious in his last three fights, with his last win coming in August 2018. The Los Angeles local also has an impressive finishing rate, as six of his wins have come via TKO or submission.

In addition to the previously announced 150-pound catchweight main event between Enrique "Baby Bull" Gonzalez and Alejandro "Pato" Martinez, TS-1 Promotions and Combate Americas have also added eight more fights to the Hidalgo event. A featured strawweight bout finds the 4-0 Paulina Vargas clashing with the 4-1 Desiree "Dirty Dez" Yanez. The undefeated Vargas has finished all four victories by TKO. Yanez looks to add a fifth win to her four-fight streak in her Combate Americas debut.

TS-1 presents Combate Americas will air live in English on DAZN, and in Spanish on Univision and UDN.
