On Oct. 17, 2014, Bellator MMA was in Council Bluffs, Iowa, for Bellator 129.

The main event saw UFC and Iowa veterans Paul Bradley and Josh Neer go toe-to-toe, with Bradley winning by decision. It would be Bradley’s second to last fight in the promotion, while the loss started the three-fight losing streak on which Neer would retire.

In the co-main event, Houston Alexander was expected to fight Pride veteran James Thompson, but Thompson was pulled from the fight and Virgil Zwicker stepped in. Alexander and Zwicker ended up fighting to a draw.

At welterweight, Andre Santos beat James Terry while Joe Vedepo TKO’d Davin Clark in the first main card bout. The prelims, meanwhile, featured notable names like Martin Brown, who TKO’d Bryan Corley, and UFC title challenger Anthony Smith, who beat Brian Green. This would also be Smith’s last fight in Bellator.
