On Oct. 6, 2017, Bellator MMA was in Thackerville, Oklahoma, for Bellator 184. In the main event, Darrion Caldwell became the new bantamweight champion after he beat Eduardo Dantas by decision. Caldwell would go on to defend the belt just once before competing in a featherweight bout and then losing the title to Kyoji Horiguchi. Dantas, meanwhile, has yet to get back to a title shot.

Bellator 184 also saw a bevy of notable names on the main card and prelims. In the co-main event, Emmanuel Sanchez submitted Daniel Straus. Elsewhere on the card, Pat Curran beat John Teixeira and Leandro Higo beat Joe Taimanglo.

On the prelims, UFC welterweight contender Chance Rencountre picked up his second Bellator win after submitting Justin Patterson in a rematch of their Bellator 151 fight. It would also be the last time he fought for the promotion, moving on afterwards to the UFC.

Bellator 184 had 1,247 people in attendance for a gate of $108,459.
