ACF: Kerr, Sims Weigh-In for Showdown

DENVER, Colo., May 5 — The Club Paladium recently made local headlines when Denver Nugget’s basketball player Julius Hodge was shot shortly after leaving the Adams County hotspot.

But Friday evening it made headlines for a much different reason: weigh-ins for American Championship Fighting’s second show “ACF 2 Exodus,” featuring the North American return of Mark Kerr (Pictures).

Headlining Saturday’s card is Kerr, an Ultimate Fighting Championship and PRIDE Fighting Championships veteran who six years ago was one of the most feared fighters in the world.

This marks Kerr’s first fight in over two years and his first fight on American soil in almost nine. Kerr will face another UFC veteran, Hammer House fighter Wes Sims (Pictures), for ACF’s inaugural heavyweight championship.

Other fights include ACF welterweight champion John Cronk (Pictures) versus Ben Call, a replacement for Joey Clark (Pictures), who broke his leg in training. A rematch between Chilo Gonzalez (Pictures) and Brett Shafer, who won their previous bout in Ring of Fire 12, also graces the card.

In addition, impressive up-and-comers Jason Brilz (fresh off a win against The Ultimate Fighter reality show’s Alex Schoenauer (Pictures)) and American Top Team’s Rafael Dias will see action.
