By The Numbers: Bubba Jenkins vs. Ryoji Kudo

Brian KnappAug 18, 2022

Bubba Jenkins still has time to meet the great expectations that preceded his arrival on the mixed martial arts scene more than a decade ago.

The onetime NCAA wrestling champion will face Ryoji Kudo when their 2022 Professional Fighters League featherweight semifinal helps anchor PFL 9 this Saturday at Copperbox Arena in London. Jenkins enters the cage on the strength of seven wins in eight appearances. He nailed down the No. 3 seed in the tournament with back-to-back regular-season victories over Kyle Bochniak and Reinaldo Ekson. Kudo, meanwhile, built his name in his native Japan. He last competed at PFL 5, where he punched out Alejandro Flores Garcia a little less than three minutes into their June 24 encounter.

As Jenkins and Kudo move ever closer to their high-stakes battle at 145 pounds, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied them to this point:

34: Years of age for Jenkins, who was born on Feb. 5, 1988 in Frankfurt, Germany.

7: Jenkins wins by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 39% of his career total (18). His list of victims: Lucas Martins, Diego Marlon, Joe Wilk, Poppies Martinez, Ian Rammel, Mike Barreras and Josh Williams. Jenkins owns two other wins by submission (11%) and nine more by decision (50%).

68: Seconds needed for Jenkins to put away Jesus Adame at Resurrection Fighting Alliance 3 on June 30, 2012. More than a decade later, it remains his fastest finish to date.

41: Rounds completed by Jenkins as a professional mixed martial artist. He has gone the distance on 10 different occasions and carries a 9-1 record in those bouts.

96: Combined victories between the four men—Georgi Karakhanyan (twice), Chris Wade, Ali Bagov and LaRue Burley—who have beaten Jenkins. They sport a cumulative .733 winning percentage (96-34-1).

29: Years of age for Kudo, who was born in Tokyo on April 3, 1993.

7: Kudo victories by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 64% of his career total (11). His list of victims: Garcia, Kento Yamamoto, Shohei Nose, Asuka Tsubaki, Yoshiteru Kubomura, Takanori Takahashi and Kaneaki Watanabe. Kudo holds four other victories by decision (36%).

1: Draw on the Kudo resume. He fought Satoshi Inaba to a two-round stalemate under the Shooto banner in July 2018.
