By The Numbers: Marlon Vera vs. Dominick Cruz

Marlon Vera zeroed in on the top of the Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight division years ago. Now, another all-time great stands in his way.

“The Ultimate Fighter Latin America” semifinalist will test his mettle against former UFC and World Extreme Cagefighting champion Dominick Cruz in the UFC on ESPN 41 headliner this Saturday at Pechanga Arena in San Diego. Vera rides a three-fight winning streak into the Octagon. He last fought at UFC on ESPN 35, where he outpointed Rob Font to a unanimous decision in their five-round April 30 main event. Cruz, meanwhile, has rattled off back-to-back victories. The Alliance MMA cornerstone last competed on Dec. 11, when he was awarded a unanimous verdict over Pedro Munhoz at UFC 269.
