After a quartet of events broadcast on Wednesday nights in primetime on TNT last month, One Championship gets back to something resembling a more typical schedule this weekend.
One Championship “Dangal” airs on Saturday at Singapore Indoor Stadium and is headlined by a heavyweight championship tilt between Brandon Vera and Arjan Singh Bhullar. Some of the bouts on the card were pre-recorded at One on TNT 4 on April 28 and others as long ago as February, but the results have been kept under wraps by the promotion.
The event will be shown on One Championship’s YouTube channel and on the One Super App. In advance of Saturday’s card, here is a look at some of the facts and figures surrounding One Championship “Dangal.”
11: Events held by the Singapore promotion thus far in 2021, including Saturday’s card. All told, One Championship has presided over 170 events since its inception in September 2011.
5: Total bouts on One Championship “Dangal.” In addition to four MMA contests, Tawanchai PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym will face Sean Clancy in a bantamweight muay Thai affair.
3-1: Record in title bouts under the One Championship banner for Vera. “The Truth” is undefeated in heavyweight championship fights, but suffered a second-round TKO loss to Aung La N Sang in a bid for light heavyweight gold in October 2019. Vera has bested Paul Cheng, Hideki Sekine and Mauro Cerillo in heavyweight title matchups in One.
.693: Winning percentage of Vera’s four foes in the Singapore-based promotion. Cheng, Sekine, Cerillo and Igor Subora own a combined 34-15 mark.
12: Finishes among 16 professional triumphs for Vera, who owns 11 victories via KO/TKO and one by way of submission. The UFC veteran has finished all four of his One Championship wins inside of a round.
5: KO/TKO defeats for Vera during his professional career. Sang, Ben Rothwell, Mauricio Rua, Jon Jones and Fabricio Werdum are the men who have knocked out One’s reigning heavyweight king.
900: Days since Vera’s last heavyweight title defense, a 64-second knockout of Mauro Cerilli at One Championship “Conquest of Champions” on Nov. 23, 2018.
3: Consecutive victories for Bhullar heading into his matchup with Vera. That includes decision wins over Marcelo Golm and Juan Adams in the UFC as well as a three-round verdict over Cerilli in his One debut in November 2019.
1: Five-round fight on Bhullar’s resume. The heavyweight claimed the Battlefield Fight League crown with a second-round stoppage of Blake Nash at BFL 39 in October 2015 before outpointing Ryan Pokryfky over five rounds in his first title defense at BFL 45 in September 2016.
70-23: Combined record of the eight athletes competing in mixed martial arts bouts at One Championship “Dangal.” That checks in as a .752 winning percentage, with Vera (16 victories) and Gurdarshan Mangat (15) leading the way in total wins.
5: Scarf-hold armlock submission wins for Ayaka Miura, who meets Ryane Marques Bastos in an atomweight bout. Miura’s last such triumph occurred at One Championship “A New Tomorrow,” when she tapped Maira Mazar with the maneuver on Jan. 10.
156: Muay Thai bouts for Tawanchai PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym, who will face Sean Clancy in the only non-MMA bout on Saturday’s card. The 21-year-old Thai fighter has gone 124-30-2 in those appearances.
