Brian KnappMay 05, 2023

Former Rizin Fighting Federation bantamweight champion Kai Asakura will return to active mixed martial arts duty for the first time in more than a year when he confronts Yuki Motoya in the Rizin 42 headliner on Saturday at Ariake Arena in Tokyo. Meanwhile, Naoki Inoue carries an 18-3 record into his bantamweight co-main event opposite onetime Bellator MMA titleholder Juan Archuleta.

Rizin 42—which streams to FITE.tv pay-per-view ($29.99) at 1 a.m. ET/10 p.m. PT—also features a lightweight tilt pairing Roberto Satoshi de Souza with Spike Carlyle, a flyweight affair pitting John Dodson against Tatsuki Saomoto and a featherweight scrap matching Takahiro Ashida with Kazumasa Majima.
