4 UFC ‘Fight for the Troops 2’ Prelims to Stream on Facebook

On Tuesday, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced that two preliminary contests from “Fight for the Troops 2” would stream live and for free over social networking site Facebook.

Today, the promotion revealed that the number has doubled, making four prelims that fans may watch free of charge. The stream will now begin at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Facebook. Fans must click the “like” button on the UFC’s official Facebook page in order to watch the bouts.

Originally, the UFC was to stream a lightweight scrap between “TUF 12” participant Cody McKenzie and savvy veteran Yves Edwards, as well as a welterweight showdown pitting Mike Guymon against DaMarques Johnson. Joining those bouts will be a featherweight duel between former WEC champion Mike Thomas Brown and jiu-jitsu ace Rani Yahya, and a lightweight battle between Waylon Lowe and Willamy “Chiquerim” Freire.

The event, which takes place tonight at Fort Hood near Killeen, Texas, will be headlined by a lightweight scrap between the world-ranked Evan Dunham and Greg Jackson-trained Melvin Guillard. Also on the card are two heavyweight contests, as former NFL talent Matt Mitrione will square off with Canadian Tim Hague, and kickboxer Pat Barry takes on the scrappy Joey Beltran. Rounding out the main card will be a pivotal featherweight showdown between Mark Hominick and George Roop, as well as a lightweight affair between Cole Miller and Matt Wiman.

Also known as UFC Fight Night 23, “Troops 2” will mark the second UFC-promoted event through which money is raised to benefit the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The promotion’s first “Troops” show took place in December 2008.
