46-Year-Old 'Massaranduba' Confident He Could Beat Two Foes in One Night
UFC veteran Francisco
Trinaldo made an impressive return to combat sports at Dirty
Boxing 2 with a first-round stoppage of Eric Moon on
June 14.
The 46-year-old “Masssaranduba” revealed to Sherdog.com that he is having a hard time finding opponents his age.
"Actually I keep training hard with the kids [at American Top
Team], and what happens is that the young guys don’t want to run
the risk of being smashed by an older dude in official events, and
the guys my age are aware that I´m still in shape. I’m lucky Moon
was not aware and accepted,” Trinaldo said.
Trinaldo revealed that he has tried challenging two fellow UFC veterans: Mike Perry and Eddie Alvarez.
Stil considered the most popular competitor from Season 1 of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil,” Trinaldo fought in the UFC for 10 years, winning 18 of his 26 bouts while competing at both lightweight and welterweight. He was released from the promotion at 44 years old in 2022 following a loss to Randy Brown.
After sharing the ATT gym with both Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunes, “Massaranduba” expects a clash of the titans when the two-time Olympic gold medalist defends her belt against the returning Brazilian.
"Amanda is returning, so she will need to train really hard. Kayla is really impressive,” Trinaldo said. “Sometimes she trains with men and gets beat. She sits down and cries, and few hours later, she is back in the dojo training. I cheer for Amanda, but she will have to train really, really hard to beat Kayla.”
Trinaldo has lofty expectations for another training partner, flyweight champ Alexandre Pantoja, who will defend his belt against Kai Kara-France at UFC 317 on Saturday.
”Nobody trains so hard as Pantoja,” he said. “I don’t see anybody beating him in that weight division.”
