International Fight League veteran John
Gunderson will collide with once-beaten UFC newcomer Mark Holst in
a lightweight affair at “The Ultimate Fighter” 11 Finale on June 19
at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Five matches are now
signed for the event.
Gunderson made his promotional debut in January, as he dropped a unanimous decision to Rafaello Oliveira at UFC 108. The 31-year-old Houston native has secured 15 of his 22 career victories by submission and has held titles inside the Sportfight and Ring of Fire promotions. Wins over Enoch Wilson, Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett and World Extreme Cagefighting veteran Bryan Caraway anchor Gunderson’s resume.
Based in Gatineau, Quebec, Holst has never gone the distance in
nine professional appearances. The 24-year-old will carry a
three-fight winning streak into his Octagon debut. Holst last
competed in March, when he submitted “The Ultimate Fighter” Season
5 quarterfinalist Corey Hill
with a second-round kimura at an Xtreme Kombat League show.
A light heavyweight duel between Keith Jardine and Matt Hamill will headline “The Ultimate Fighter 11” Finale. Other bouts greenlit for the event include a middleweight match pairing Aaron Simpson with Chris Leben, a lightweight tilt pitting Spencer Fisher against Dennis Siver and a heavyweight clash between James McSweeney and UFC newcomer Travis Browne.
