ACB 62 Weigh-in Results: Townsend-Shabliy Cancelled; Cruz-Stepanyan New Main Event

Absolute Championship Berkut returns once again for what should be yet another event loaded with mayhem. ACB 62 was to be anchored by a lightweight showdown between Adam Townsend and Alexandr Shabliy. But once the featured fighters stepped onto the scale, everything fell apart.

Shabliy, a Russian who had won seven in a row before losing via split decision to Eduard Vartanyan at ACB 49 last November, looked solid when he stepped onto the scale and he came in on point at 155.8 pounds. However, Townsend, who has won three straight and 11 of 12 overall, wasn’t as ready as his counterpart and came in way heavy at 162 pounds. “Prime Time” was unable to make weight and his team and the promoter couldn’t come to terms, so the fight was scrapped.

With the main event tossed into the fire, the brawl between Akop Stepanyan and Felipe Cruz was bumped to the main slot. Thankfully both fighters were on point at the scale. Cruz came in at 146.8 pounds while Stepanyan weighed in at 146.1 for their featherweight encounter.

ACB 62 will be streamed live on FITE TV beginning at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT.
