Raphael Assuncao will not remain on the UFC Fight Night Albany card in Albany, N.Y., after proposed opponent Aljamain Sterling withdrew from the contest last week due to injury.

According to a release from the Las Vegas-based promotion, Assuncao has elected to wait and face Sterling at a future event once the Serra-Longo Fight Team representative returns to full health.

UFC Fight Night 102 takes place at the Times Union Center on Dec. 9 and is headlined by a heavyweight tilt pitting Derrick Lewis against Shamil Abdurakhimov. The card will stream in its entirety on UFC Fight Pass.

Assuncao had a seven-fight winning streak snapped in his most recent outing at UFC 200 on July 9, when he dropped a unanimous verdict in a rematch against ex-bantamweight king T.J. Dillashaw. The 34-year-old Brazilian owns wins over the likes of Dillashaw, Bryan Caraway and Johnny Eduardo during his Octagon tenure.
