According to reports from Russian news outlets (translation via Bloody Elbow), the younger brother of heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko allegedly locked himself in his golden Mercedes and attempted to avoid escape law enforcement after parking his vehicle illegally. Emelianenko crashed into two vehicles during the incident and was eventually detained.

The 37-year-old Russian fighter was then taken to a police department in Kislovodsk and charged with DUI, evading arrest and insulting a government official. Emelianenko was placed in custody for 10 days by a local court.

Emelianenko had been scheduled to headline Russian Cagefighting Championship 6 on May 4 against Wagner Prado. However, RCC executive director Nikolai Klimenko told TASS.ru that the contest has been canceled.

In 2015, Emelianenko was convicted of sexual assault, “kidnapping” by withholding a passport, and the forced use of “narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances” of his housekeeper, Polina Stepanova. Emelianenko pleaded not guilty to the charges, claiming that that any contact with the victim was consensual. After initially being sentenced to four and a half years, Emelianenko was released early for “good behavior.”

Emelianenko last appeared at World Cagefighting Championship Akhmat 50, where he battled Bellator veteran Tony Johnson to a draw in the evening’s main event this past August. Prior to that, Emelianenko had earned back-to-back wins over UFC veterans Viktor Pesta and Gabriel Gonzaga under the RCC banner. Emelianenko owns a career 28-7-1 mark that includes stints in M-1 and Pride.
