Alex Oliveira vs. Mickey Gall Removed from UFC Norfolk on Feb. 29

A proposed welterweight clash pitting Alex Oliveira against Mickey Gall at UFC Norfolk has been canceled.

The Las Vegas-based promotion announced the news over the weekend. A specific reason for the cancellation was not given, and Oliveira vs. Gall will not be replaced on the card.

UFC Norfolk takes place at Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Va., on Feb. 29 and is headlined by a clash between Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo for the vacant flyweight crown.

Oliveira is currently on a three-bout skid that includes a submission defeat to Gunnar Nelson and decision losses against Mike Perry and Nicolas Dalby. The 31-year-old Brazilian is 9-6 with one no contest during his UFC tenure.

Gall went 1-1 during his 2019 campaign, falling to Diego Sanchez via TKO at UFC 235 before outpointing Salim Touahri at UFC on ESPN 5. Gall is 6-2 as a pro, with all but one of those bouts coming inside the Octagon.
