A middleweight matchup between vaunted strikers Alexander Shlemenko and Melvin Manhoef will take place at a Bellator MMA card on Feb. 13.
The promotion announced the new event on Friday night, its second scheduled card for February. The fight will take place at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., and air on Spike TV.
Shlemenko captured Bellator’s vacant middleweight strap with a second-round stoppage of Maiquel Jose Falcao Goncalves at Bellator 88 in February 2013. “Storm” would defend the title three times before relinquishing the belt to Brandon Halsey at Bellator 126 this past September.
Manhoef made his promotional debut at Bellator 125, knocking out Doug Marshall 1:45 into the first round of their Sept. 19 bout. In his next outing, “No Mercy” suffered a brutal KO loss 32 seconds into the second frame against Joe Schilling at Bellator 131.
