Alexander Volkanovski Confident He'll Beat Max Holloway, 'If They Want a Rematch, I'll Do That'

It is safe to say Alexander Volkanovski is confident ahead of his featherweight title fight against Max Holloway, as the Aussie confirmed he’d be happy to grant the champ a rematch after he beats him in December.

Holloway vs. Volkanovski for the 145-pound title was confirmed last week by the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and will take place at UFC 245 on Dec. 14, despite Volkanovski’s lobbying for a spot on next month’s UFC 243 card in Melbourne, which is headlined the middleweight title unification fight between Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya.

Ahead of their fight, the Wollongong, New South Wales native said he’s ready to showcase his skills against arguably the greatest featherweight ever.

“I’m going to show the world that I’m the best featherweight. I’m the best featherweight in the world, and I’m going to show that December 14th,” Volkanovski said to EMG Access.

“People can say whatever they want. He’s been a great champion. If he wants a rematch again, I’m already looking through this. I know I’m winning. I’m taking that belt. If they want a rematch I’ll do that. I’ll beat him again and solidify I’m the best in the world. Then everyone can just jump on board.”

The 30-year-old Volkanovski earned his title opportunity with a dominant victory over Jose Aldo in Brazil at UFC 237 back in May. The Australian comes into the title fight against Holloway riding a 17-fight winning streak that goes back to 2013.
