Two Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweights looking to make a statement will get five rounds to do so at the beginning of June.
Volkov has alternated wins and losses in his last four, winning against Alistair Overeem and Marcin Tybura but dropping bouts to Ciryl Gane and Tom Aspinall. The Russian celebrates a finish rate of 74% as a pro, with the majority of his stoppages coming due to strikes. In addition to Overeem, “Drago” has knocked out the likes of Fabricio Werdum, Walt Harris and Denis Goltsov throughout his storied career.
Not to be outdone by his opponent, Rozenstruik has alternated victories and defeats across his last six, which also includes a finish of Overeem and decision setback to Gane. Far less experienced than Volkov but with a significantly higher knockout rate, all but one of his wins in his MMA career have ended by due to strikes. Before turning to MMA in 2012, the Suriname native carried out a full kickboxing career, with at least 85 appearances with 76 wins to his name – and 64 of those came by knockout or TKO.
The June 4 UFC Fight Night event now has its headliner, even if a destination has yet to be made public. It may go down inside of the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Other key matchups on the billing include a featherweight scrap between Dan Ige and Movsar Evloev, a middleweight brawl pitting Joaquin Buckley against Abusupiyan Magomedov and a pivotal women’s flyweight affair when Erin Blanchfield takes on J.J. Aldrich.
