Alexis Davis Excited to Fight in Canada Once Again

Alexis Davis is on a two-fight losing streak, but she is ecstatic about her upcoming fight. Although facing off against the unranked Viviane Araujo, she is eager about the opportunity to once again fight in her home country at UFC 240.

"I love any opportunity I have to fight in Canada. It is a whole different vibe and everything is super chill and relaxed. The fans of Canada just want good fights," Davis said to Sherdog.com.

With the crowd behind her, Davis knows it is important to get a win for both herself and the fans that come out. Her last two losses have come against Katlyn Chookagian and Jennifer Maia, who are in the top-five of the division. Regardless, the Canadian just wants to put on a good show and showcase her skills.

"I am not really focusing on that as much. Obviously, I need to get back into the win column. I just want to fight like my old self and show to the fans I still am a top fighter," she explained. "Everyone focuses on your wins and losses, instead of just relaxing. It just adds pressure to the fight that is not needed."

One skill she believes she will get to show is her jiu-jitsu. The 34-year-old has eight wins by submission, and her game plan is to get the fight to the ground. Should she be able to do that, she knows how dangerous she is.

"It is always important. My biggest problem has been getting to the ground," she said. "I have been notorious to try and stand and bang with people which is not my game plan. You know she is very good on the ground, so it should be an awesome fight."

If she can't get it down to the ground, Davis is confident she'll have a cardio advantage that will manifest in her Brazilian opponent making mistakes. "I've never had a problem with my cardio," revealed the fighter. "It is hard to say how she will look because we have never seen her be pushed to that limit and on such a big stage for her."

All Davis cares about is getting her hand raised no matter how it happens. Whether it comes by stoppage or decision, she is preparing for the best fighter ever and knows she is well prepared for this.

She saw what Araujo can do, as in her Ultimate Fighting Championship debut had a knockout win at bantamweight and knows she has to win the fight but realizes anything can happen.

"It is a fight I don't know what is going to happen. She could come out swinging and or try to take me down. I'm just focusing on my skills and she needs to be worried about what I'm going to do."
