The Las Vegas-based promotion announced the matchup on Saturday. Overeem and Harris were initially slated to meet at UFC on ESPN 7 in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 7 before Harris pulled out of the contest to focus on the search for his missing stepdaughter, the late Aniah Blanchard. Overeem instead lost to Jairzinho Rozenstruik via fifth-round TKO in the new UFC on ESPN 7 main event.

UFC Portland takes place at the Moda Center and will likely stream on ESPN+. The promotion confirmed six other bouts for the event: Vicente Luque vs. Randy Brown; Carla Esparza vs. Michelle Waterson; Tristan Connelly vs. Alex da Silva Coelho; Don’Tale Mayes vs. Rodrigo Nascimento Ferreira; Markus Perez vs. Alessio Di Chirico and Julia Avila vs. Karol Rosa.

Prior to his last-second loss to Rozenstruik, Overeem had scored back-to-back first-round technical knockout victories over Sergei Pavlovich and Alexey Oleynik. The 39-year-old Dutchman is a former title challenger and has earned wins over the likes of Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir, Junior dos Santos, Roy Nelson, Andrei Arlovski and Fabricio Werdum in UFC competition.

Before tragedy struck, Harris had established momentum as an up-and-coming heavyweight by going unbeaten in his last four Octagon appearances (A win over Arlovski was overturned to a no contest). Most recently, “The Big Ticket” knocked out Oleynik in 12 seconds at UFC on ESPN 4 this past July.
