Andy Main-Issei Tamura Unification Bout to Headline Pancrase 282 on Nov. 13

Featherweight King of Pancrase Andy Main will meet interim champion Issei Tamura to unify the 145-pound title in the Pancrase 282 headliner on Nov. 13 at Differ Ariake in Tokyo.

Main will enter the high-stakes clash on a three-fight winning streak. The 27-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt captured the Pancrase featherweight crown a little more than a year ago, when he submitted Nam Phan with a fourth-round triangle choke. Main appeared on Season 12 of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series, only to be eliminated by eventual semifinalist Kyle Watson. He competed in the Ring of Combat and Cage Fury Fighting Championships organizations before putting down roots in Pancrase.

Tamura, meanwhile, has also rattled off three straight wins. The Krazy Bee representative claimed the interim featherweight title at Pancrase 277 on April 24, when he knocked out Juntaro Ushiku in the third round of their battle. Tamura, 32, went 1-2 during a three-fight stint in the UFC, his knockout of Tiequan Zhang largely overshadowed by decisive losses to T.J. Dillashaw and Raphael Assuncao.

Pancrase 282 will also feature a women’s flyweight tilt matching Rin Nakai with Priscila de Souza and a pair of intriguing bantamweight fights, as Victor Henry meets Rafael Silva and Masakatsu Ueda takes on Hidekazu Fukushima.
