Back from Injury, Lauren Murphy Expects to Return to Win Column at UFC Newark
Lauren Murphy has not fought since June 2018, when she lost by decision to Sijara Eubanks at UFC Fight Night 131. Since then, she had foot surgery and spent the rest of the time healing and recovering.

“I had foot surgery and was able to still do some things. Oddly enough I was able to work on my footwork because I had to go slow and build it up, so I created new habits,” Murphy said to Sherdog.com. “Worked on my boxing. I made a lot of improvements.”
Along with getting better, the 36-year-old also changed camps and reunited with her old coaches who cornered her during her Invicta FC tenure. She is confident the reunion helped her make the necessary improvements to get her hand raised against Borella.
“It is always important to get back into the win column no matter what,” she said. “I expect to win this fight and know I will win.”
Murphy is ready for the fight to take place anywhere and has a ton of confidence heading into UFC Newark.
“All my knockouts come out on the ground. But, I do have a lot of power in my hands. I have a lot of confidence in this division,” she concluded. "I hit really hard, my boxing is good, my wrestling is good, my jiu-jitsu is awesome, I’m a two-time jiu-jitsu champion. I’m not afraid of anyone in any area.”
