Bellator 136 Weigh-in Results: Will Brooks, Dave Jansen on Point for Main Event
The Will
Brooks era begins in earnest on Friday when the lightweight
champion makes his first title defense against surging challenger
Dave
Jansen at
Bellator 136.
Both fighters hit their contracted marks at weigh-ins on Thursday, as Brooks checked in at 155 pounds, while Jansen tipped the scales at 154.6.
Bellator 136 takes place at Bren Events Center in Irvine, Calif.,
and also features a middleweight co-main event pitting Joe
Schilling (185.6) against Rafael
Carvalho (185.8). Two other bouts round out the main card, as
Marcin
Held (155.8) meets Alexander
Sarnavskiy (155) at lightweight and Alexander
Volkov (243) locks horns with Tony
Johnson (264) in a heavyweight affair.
The Bellator 136 main card airs on Spike TV beginning at 9 p.m. ET, while the preliminary draw streams on Spike.com at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Brooks enters the bout on a six-fight winning streak. “Ill Will” captured the interim 155-pound strap with a split-decision verdict over Michael Chandler at Bellator 120 before earning the organization’s undisputed crown with a fourth-round stoppage of Chandler at Bellator 131.
Jansen initially earned his title shot by winning the promotion’s Season 7 lightweight tournament. After an ACL injury sidelined him for more than a year, Jansen returned to action at Bellator 130, where he took a unanimous decision victory over Rick Hawn. “The Fugitive” has won seven straight fights under the Bellator banner.
