Bellator 173/BAMMA 28 Weigh-ins: Liam McGeary, Brett McDermott Make Headliner Official

One way or another, former Bellator MMA light heavyweight champion Liam McGeary will be fighting Friday night. After original opponent Chris Fields fell through due to injury and then replacement foe Vladimir Filipovic was booted off the card for visa issues, McGeary will now face Brett McDermott in a catch-weight bout.

At Thursday’s weigh-in, McDermott, who came in on about two full days’ notice, stepped onto the scale at 217.6 pounds, ready for the main event. McGeary didn’t look too bothered by the opponent switcheroo, though, and weighed in at 211.5.

Bellator 173 will be televised on tape delay from SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Spike will air the coverage, which begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
