Bellator 183 Medical Suspensions: Freire, Henderson Both Potentially Sidelined 180 Days



Both Patricky Freire and Benson Henderson could be facing extended layoffs following their headlining bout at Bellator 183.

Freire must receive doctor clearance for right rib pain or he will be sidelined for 180 days, while Henderson is suspended for the same period of time pending clearance for left rib pain and a left fifth metacarpal dislocation. The California State Athletic Commission released a complete list of medical suspensions from the event to MMAFighting.com.

Bellator 183 took place at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., this past Saturday and saw Freire took a contentious split verdict over Henderson in the evening’s featured bout.

Four other fighters from the event are facing 180-day suspensions: Justin Lin (severe KO); Fernando Gonzalez Trevino (right thigh trauma, left hand fracture), Ricardo Vasquez (right knee ligament strain) and Luis Jauregui (left elbow dislocation).

Patricky Freire: Requires physician clearance on right rib pain or 180-day medical suspension

Benson Henderson: Requires physician clearance on left rib pain, left 5th metacarpal dislocation or 180-day medical suspension

Justin Linn: Suspended 180 days no contest, 180 days no contact due to severe KO

Fernando Gonzalez Trevino: Requires physician clearance on right thigh trauma, left hand fracture or 180-day medical suspension

Ricardo Vasquez: Requires physician clearance on right knee ligament strain or 180-day medical suspension

Luis Jauregui: Requires physician clearance on left arm with dislocation of left elbow or 180-day medical suspension

Lorenz Larkin: Suspended 45 days no contest, 30 days no contact due to KO

Mike Ortega: Suspended 45 days no contest, 30 days no contact due to KO

Brandon Laroco: Suspended 45 days no contest, 30 days no contact due to TKO

Alex Lopez: Suspended 45 days no contest, 30 days no contact due to hard bout

Anthony Castrejon: Suspended 45 days no contest, 30 days no contact due to KO
